Starting (again)

As usual I’m not the first one which build is own robot/drone/vehicle, and I’m very enthusiastic guy and I started with out a good project.
So lets to learn from the beginning, and mean while I’ll write the project, for a further use.

Here I’m going to put the main points.

What I want to do ?

This is the main question, and must be solved before to start anything.

I want to build a platform to study and develop a device, which will be able to move, add a computer embedded for computer vision.
Should be like a toy but following the next premise , keep as simple as possible
For the next projects I’ll do more interesting things, but for learn I need the simple model.

Parts

.- Which parts would have my robot/drone ??

  9. Remote control

All this elements should be affect to the final result, and all of them are interrelated

1º .- Chassis, structure

The chassis is were I’m going to put every thing. Quite simple, no ?

Which is the size of everything ? and the weight ?

.- Batteries :
4 x AA  (for arduino, and may be for the cubieboard) 55x60x20mm  (100 gr)
2 x 18650 ( for motors and servos) 75x45x25mm  (100 gr)

.- Electronic
Here it’s necessary to know which sensor will be used, by the moment, 4 Infrared sensor for distance.
I’ll use two small protoboards  2 x (45×35)

Motor shield 70x55x15 (25 gr)

.- Microprocesor
Arduino UNO 75 x 55 x 15mm 27 gr

1.2 Build or buy ??

I’ve already tried to build one, and I spend a lot of time, and money.
Is the time to try something al ready done
